Abby Belmont Bio
She comes from a small Spanish moss
covered town in Georgia. She grew up with a deep inclination to
draw and sketch, but was discouraged by her family. She
eventually came to own a vintage clothing store but the urge to
pursue art was deeply instilled. A sense of style and design
originated from her interest in the nostalgic and design of the
clothing and accessories she vested in. She arrived at a point
in her life where she reluctantly began painting with little
confidence in her abilities, as she had no formal training.
After completion of the painting in disappointment she cut the
painting up into pieces. In the aftermath of this experiment
she saw the work lying in pieces. In the pile of shredded
canvas she noticed the work in a new and exciting perspective.
She slowly pieced the worked back together and discovered the
technique of mosaic, a process she was unaware of. She soon
found a place in technique to express her work and realized she
could paint. She is now one of the most admired mosaic tile
artist today with a goal of being a most prolific artist. In
her re-invented technique she creates images of surreal
expressionism. Her works expand from small quaint pieces to
large murals. While working in a foundation of oil on canvas
she also crosses the boundary to include mixed media mosaics on
canvas driven by her attention to different textures that
hold a representation of relevance to a more complex thought
pattern. These are often infused with parallel comparisons of
experiences and desires. She is most compelled to execute
paintings as stories with many representations and metaphors.
She works closely with her thought patterns interpreted in the
executions of her intentions. Her inspirations and influences
cross many timelines in art history and movements. She is not
immune to experimental work and sees every object as a
potential for re-interpretation. Her name is Abby Belmont, and
the Studio is proud to present her paintings. Ms. Belmont is a
highly collectable artist and accepts commissions on approval,
along with offering available works for acquisition.
